About the role
- Develop and own category growth strategies aligned with brand priorities and customer needs across all retail channels.
- Lead the creation of long-range category vision, frameworks, and roadmaps using syndicated, shopper, and proprietary research.
- Serve as the “voice of the category” in customer meetings, influencing joint business planning with insights-led storytelling.
- Translate shopper and consumption trends into actionable plans for assortment, shelving, pricing, and promotion.
- Lead the development of shopper-centric selling stories using a variety of tools and data providers (Circana, Numerator, Custom Research).
- Collaborate with Insights and Brand teams to identify whitespace opportunities and new product positioning strategies.
- Partner with key retail customers to deliver data-driven category solutions that drive mutual growth.
- Act as a thought partner to Category Buyers and Planners; provide compelling recommendations on space, assortment, and activation.
- Influence customer planograms, pricing, and promotion strategies using best-in-class analysis.
- Lead a team of category managers; inspire strategic thinking, curiosity, and analytical rigor.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Trade, and Field Execution to align category strategies with field activation.
- Contribute to innovation pipeline development with insights that bridge consumer needs and category dynamics.
- Develop KPIs and scorecards to measure impact of category initiatives and refine strategies accordingly.
- Lead post-event analytics to determine ROI of major promotions, launches, and merchandising initiatives.
Requirements
- 10+ yrs category leadership within beverage/CPG; 5+ yrs people management
- Track record of success leading Category teams
- Expert user of syndicated, shopper-card and loyalty data
- Demonstrated success winning Top-10 retailer line reviews and planogram expansions
- AC Nielsen CMI or CMA-CPG certification a plus
- Beverage Experience a plus
- 25 % travel
