About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead end-to-end implementation of Energy Conservation Measures, including HVAC retrofits, controls upgrades, central plant improvements, electrical, and mechanical/plumbing systems
  • Identify and manage technical, schedule, cost, environmental, and performance guarantee risks through construction
  • Prepare and manage detailed project schedules and hold subcontractors and internal teams accountable to milestones
  • Manage project budgets, approve expenditures, and process subcontractor draw requests
  • Oversee Measurement & Verification plans, commissioning protocols, and post-implementation O&M handoffs
  • Evaluate submittals, RFIs, and field conditions against contract documents and energy performance requirements
  • Serve as the on-site technical authority for MEP and controls implementation
  • Oversee Associate Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractor field personnel
  • Manage client relationships, expectations, communication, and satisfaction throughout project phases
  • Lead bid processes and subcontract negotiations
  • Enforce safety standards and OSHA compliance across all trades
  • Oversee on-site quality control programs to ensure work meets design intent and performance targets

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of construction project management or project engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC, building controls (BAS/BMS), electrical distribution, and central utilities
  • Ability to read and work from mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings and specifications
  • Experience managing subcontractors across multiple trades simultaneously
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent project management software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • OSHA-30 certification
  • Ability to travel up to 50–60% annually
  • Ability to obtain federal/government security clearances
  • Experience with energy performance contracts such as ESPC, PPEA, or guaranteed savings structures strongly preferred
  • Background in commissioning or retro-commissioning strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with IPMVP measurement and verification protocols strongly preferred
  • Experience in federal, municipal, or institutional facility environments strongly preferred
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work safely around construction equipment and energized systems
  • Ability to lift and/or transport up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in loud or complex field conditions
