About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Contribute to new solution/product design and implementation for Managed Services clients
  • Provide oversight, project guidance, and technical leadership in reviewing and modifying Managed Services solutions
  • Support complex technical services and solutions across enterprise storage, mainframe, midrange, Windows, Unix/Linux, networking, virtualization, and databases
  • Analyze client requirements, recommend solutions, and support proposals, quotations, and presentations
  • Provide technical sales support
  • Advise customers, Managed Services, and other organizational teams on technical subjects and architecture design
  • Maintain client relationships as a trusted Technical Advisor and serve as a communications focal point
  • Lead complex design workshops
  • Mentor engineers in project design, analysis, and coordination
  • Research emerging technologies, evaluate alternatives, make recommendations, and present reports to management
  • Develop and maintain customer presentations, demos, training documentation, templates, and related collateral
  • Support vendor training requirements, certifications, and engineer education
  • Provide technical input for service engagement estimates and Statements of Work
  • Design and oversee upgrades to complex client infrastructure solutions
  • Provide implementation, upgrades, tuning, backups, restores, user management, and technical support
  • Follow change control, incident response, and testing processes
  • Deliver Managed Services offerings according to CDW service descriptions and catalog
  • Communicate technical problems and solutions clearly to clients
  • Participate in on-call rotation for 24x7 critical-system support, including possible shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Escalate and support complex technical issues and business-critical situations
  • Lead client projects to improve and upgrade technology infrastructure
  • Create and execute test plans
  • Design and implement complex automation and technology solutions
  • Conduct throughput analysis, problem solving, root cause analysis, and infrastructure planning
  • Identify potential cross-selling opportunities for the sales team
  • Assist Professional Services with architectural assessments and recommendations
  • Complete projects and assigned scopes of work on schedule
  • Understand and meet production-environment SLAs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Success, Project Management, R&D, and Sales
  • Test, evaluate, and develop products, offerings, and solutions
  • Conduct customer and employee training
  • Review service requests daily, provide client updates, and maintain accurate problem-tracking data
  • Update customer incident tickets and change orders and provide status information to management and account managers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of IT engineering experience, including 5 years of large-scale requisite data center experience, OR 11 total years of IT engineering experience including a minimum of 5 years in a large-scale, multi-tenant Data Center environment
  • Enterprise-class planning, design, implementation, and support experience with one or more Managed Services infrastructure solutions
  • Ability to apply technical background and knowledge to business direction and provide business-based customer outcomes
  • Ability to develop project plans and schedules for complex projects or new solution/product development
  • Ability to establish customer trust and confidence in CDW Managed Services
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, adapt to changing customer needs, and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures consistently
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including collaboration with C-level executives
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, providing guidance and mentorship
  • Strong time management skills
  • Working knowledge of scripting/coding: Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby, or TLC
  • Working knowledge of networking hardware: Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or Aruba switches and routers
  • Working knowledge of firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimization, network technologies/topologies, security, QoS, VoIP, virtualization, data center, wireless, and VPN technologies
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Current Cisco CCNP certifications required
  • Cisco CCIE certification is a plus
  • Industry-recognized technical certifications in related disciplines are a plus
  • Experience in a large data center environment is a plus
  • 5 years of Managed Services experience is a plus
