About the role
- Build Developer Trust & Community
- Establish CData’s technical voice across developer communities focused on AI, MCP, agent architecture, integration platforms, and data connectivity.
- Build a content strategy and deliver deep technical content including architecture guides, reference implementations, integration tutorials, developer thought leadership.
- Represent CData at developer conferences, technical events, and online developer communities.
- Create technical case studies that tell the “how they built it” story alongside product marketing’s business outcome version, the same customer story tailored for two audiences.
- Build and grow CData’s developer presence across GitHub and relevant developer platforms.
- Create feedback loops that bring developer insights and pain points directly into roadmap discussions.
- Drive Developer Engagement & Adoption
- Define the developer journey from discovery to first successful integration with the platform.
- Improve developer onboarding and time-to-first value through documentation, sample projects, and tutorials.
- Partner with Marketing to amplify high-impact technical content and developer programs.
- Identify and activate high-leverage developer communities, platforms, and technical ecosystems.
- Define, instrument, and analyze developer engagement metrics that reflect your mission of trust and adoption.
- Build programs that grow the developer ecosystem and expand CData’s footprint in technical communities.
- Activate Internal Developer Expertise
- Enable engineers, architects, and product teams to contribute to developer outreach and technical storytelling.
- Partner with Technical Evangelists and Product Marketing to align messaging and community initiatives.
- Surface developer insights internally to influence product decisions and developer experience improvements.
- Build & Lead the Developer Relations Program
- Define the strategy, operating model, and metrics for Developer Relations at CData.
- Hire and develop a team of developer advocates and community leaders as the program scales.
- Own budgets for developer events, programs, and community initiatives.
Requirements
- Has written production code professionally as a software engineer, solutions architect, or in a similar hands-on technical role.
- 7+ years in Developer Relations, technical evangelism, or developer-focused roles, including leadership experience.
- Deep credibility with developers and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Comfortable leveraging AI coding agents and tooling to accelerate content and development workflows.
- Experience in AI infrastructure, integration platforms, data systems, or developer tools.
- Demonstrated ability to build working technical demos and architecture content.
- Evidence of public technical credibility (talks, writing, OSS contributions).
- Experience operating in a high-growth organization where you owned both strategy and execution.
