About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and oversee all contractor personnel and O&M functions at the assigned site
- Ensure staffing coverage across all shifts and maintain high-performing operational teams
- Maintain operational mission continuity and compliance with safety, security, quality, logistics, facilities, and staffing requirements
- Coordinate with host-installation entities for mission readiness, inspections, and operational support
- Serve as the on-site interface to local and external government customers
- Respond to performance issues, outages, inspections, and emergency situations
- Act as the primary decision-maker and escalation authority for after-hours needs
- Ensure integration and communication across quality, security, logistics, facilities, emergency response, and other cross-functional areas
- Support cross-training within the management team
- Oversee and coordinate technical and bargaining-unit activities
- Comply with range, safety, security, and access requirements at the remote desert/range site on White Sands Missile Range
- Report to the Program Manager
- Provide 24/7 operational readiness and occasional after-hours support
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, business, space operations, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent senior military or technical operations leadership experience may be accepted
- Minimum 8 years in technical operations or mission O&M
- At least 3 years leading a site, detachment, shift organization, or comparable workforce
- Demonstrated success in site-level leadership, incident management, and performance oversight in mission-critical environments
- Top Secret/SCI Clearance is required
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- High-level attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Adaptability to change and ability to learn quickly
- Ability to work independently and on a multifunctional team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Expertise in staff management, training, customer relations, and dynamic problem-solving in high-stress scenarios
- Preferred certifications may include PMP, facilities/safety credentials, mission-operations certifications, or quality-management qualifications
- Ability to comply with range, safety, security, and access requirements
- Physical and mental capability to work extended periods, respond to incidents, perform tests, and meet operational-readiness requirements
- Ability to safely operate near sensitive and classified optical, mechanical, and electrical systems
