Lead migration of legacy Access databases into modern, high-performance SQL platforms
Work closely with program users to analyze existing data structures and design schema transformations
Design and execute ETL pipelines, validation checks, and cut-over plans
Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to DBMS and review/correct programs
Monitor database performance, perform performance tuning, and recommend efficiency improvements
Perform logical and physical data modeling, create physical models from logical models, and maintain data dictionary
Coordinate data integrity, control redundancy, load and reorganize databases as needed
Create test database environments, execute backup and recovery procedures, and assist with installation of database software
Assist with database security, disaster recovery procedures, benchmarking, threshold testing, and selection of DBMS
Provide technical assistance to users and deliver training/knowledge transfer; answer user questions and support data access
Requirements
Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced MS Access databases, including the creation of normalized table structures, sophisticated queries for data extraction and manipulation, intuitive data entry forms, and comprehensive rpts
Expert-level relational database design, normalization, ER modeling, schema refactoring, and translating Access data models into scalable SQL schemas
Experience with Microsoft Access, including table design, complex queries, forms, reports, and Skilled in leveraging VBA for custom functionalities and workflow automation
Experience with migrating legacy databases into at least one major cloud SQL service (Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server/MySQL)
ETL tool experience with SSIS, Azure Data Factory, AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), or equivalent
Creating migration runbooks, data dictionaries, technical documentation, and delivering training or knowledge-transfer sessions
Experience with RDBMS admin/console tools such as TOAD, SSMS and/or SQL Developer
Configuring data integration and batch processing solutions in Azure Data Factory and/or SSIS; monitoring data ingestion processes and performance; review query plans and identify problem areas in execution plans
Migrating data from legacy database to new target database
Experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming work
Working knowledge of EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies; ensures user interfaces for database administration and data I/O are compliant
Must be able to pass a background check
Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently and on a multi-functional team; handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
Desired: Hands-on experience with CI/CD methodology, GitHub, JIRA
Desired: Hands-on experience with data visualization/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau
Desired: Hands-on experience with Agile Development Methodologies
