About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as an instructor and course manager for security driver training courses
  • Plan, organize, and present/manage the presentation of training courses
  • Evaluate training effectiveness to ensure that objectives are met
  • Ensure instructors understand established training objectives, lesson plans, and instructional methods
  • Monitor and review the work of driver training instructors
  • Evaluate the impact of changes in security programs and training requirements on existing materials
  • Plan and organize participation in curriculum review conferences
  • Provide technical guidance to instructors in security related subjects
  • Conduct practical exercises as needed
  • Research and introduce relevant information into driver training courses
  • Assist in scheduling and planning classes
  • Submit training records in a timely manner

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Certification as a driving instructor from a law enforcement academy or driver training school/academy with ten (10) or more years of instructor experience
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Previous law enforcement or military instructor experience is required; experience with US Department of State, Diplomatic Security (DS) driver training programs strongly preferred
  • Expert knowledge of security/antiterrorist driving and protective motorcade driving principles and concepts
  • Expert knowledge of and experience in road racing techniques
  • Expert knowledge of vehicle mechanics, engineering, and fabrication
  • Expert knowledge of terrorist operations and surveillance detection
  • Expert knowledge of current protective security methods
  • Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles, course development, classroom and practical instructional presentation methods, and methods for evaluating training effectiveness
  • Ability to oversee all aspects of motorcade, off road and unimproved road driving courses
  • Must possess a valid US driver’s license
  • Secret Clearance is required
  • Must be able to pass a background check
