About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as an instructor and course manager for security driver training courses
- Plan, organize, and present/manage the presentation of courses
- Evaluate training effectiveness to ensure that objectives are met
- Review training objectives, lesson plans, training materials, and instructional methods prior to assigned courses
- Analyze trainee evaluations and feedback
- Participate in curriculum review conferences
- Provide technical guidance in conducting practical exercises
- Research current reports related to Diplomatic Security and incorporate relevant information into training courses
- Present security awareness briefings to various audiences
- Establish and maintain liaison with law enforcement and security organizations
- Monitor training exercises to ensure safety and efficiency
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma, associate’s degree preferred
- Certification as a driving instructor from a law enforcement academy or driver training school/academy
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of instructor experience (must have taught at least one (1) class per week during that time)
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred
- Previous law enforcement or military instructor experience required
- Experience with US Department of State, Diplomatic Security (DS) driver training programs strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of security/antiterrorist driving and protective motorcade driving principles and concepts
- Advanced knowledge of and experience in road racing techniques
- Advanced knowledge of vehicle mechanics, engineering, and fabrication
- Advanced knowledge of terrorist operations and surveillance detection
- Advanced knowledge of current protective security methods
- Intermediate knowledge of adult learning principles, course development, classroom and practical instructional presentation methods, and methods for evaluating training effectiveness
- Ability to function as a lead instructor for DS driver training programs
- Must possess a valid US driver’s license
- Secret Clearance is required
- Must be able to pass a background check.
