About the role
- Provide support services to advance the client’s mission by actively monitoring global developments in religious freedom.
- Develop strategies, initiatives, and policy responses tailored to assist embassies and other bureaus in effectively addressing these developments.
- Review unclassified and classified information sources, conduct research, draft documents, manage data entry within appropriate computer systems, facilitate verbal and written communications, and engage with relevant stakeholders.
- Advise the AAL, Senior Official and other Office leadership regarding special projects, such as building international networks and strategic public messaging.
- Manage efforts to build more effective international alliances and networks that promote freedom of religion.
- Ensure policymakers have access to information about conditions on the ground, develop trends, and take action to assist members of negatively affected religious communities.
- Track initiatives and communications related to special projects with the client, interagency partners, and external non-governmental organizations (NGO).
- Monitor abuses of religious freedom or positive developments related to the state of religious freedom in assigned areas.
- Prepare information for entry into relevant computer systems to inform policy decisions and statutory visa ineligibility determinations.
- Analyze religious freedom-related developments and brief senior officials.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or other post-graduate degree preferred, or five years of experience is required.
- Specialized expertise and experience related to religious freedom or related rights advocacy and coalition-building and networking.
- Experience in public affairs and policy research and analysis in international relations/affairs.
- Knowledge of research and analytical methods to validate, evaluate and interpret information obtained from a variety of sources.
- Knowledge of laws, rules, policies, and regulations regarding human rights and religious freedom.
- Secret Clearance is required.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Minimum Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English to prepare and present.
- Strong analysis and research skills to provide recommendations and technical advice and to participate in meetings and discussions.
