About the role
- Performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project; selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts; contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work; reviews, analyzes and integrates the technical work of others.
- Supervisor or technical engineer outlines objectives, requirements and design approaches.
- The government will review completed work for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.
- Perform one (1) or a combination of such typical duties as: Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment; conduct tests or experiments; analyze results and redesign or modify equipment to improve performance; and report results.
- Develop designs from general guidelines and specifications ( e.g., size or weight requirements), for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry.
- Analyze technical data to determine applicability to design problems; select from several possible design layouts; calculate design data; and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.
- May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.
- Plan (or assist in planning) tests to evaluate equipment performance.
- Determine test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conduct tests using all types of instruments; analyze and evaluate test results; and prepare reports on findings and recommendations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree program from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) school.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience.
- This position requires the submission of a DNA sample, which will be stored in the government-managed DNA Sample-Employee Database to ensure it is excluded from CODIS (Combined DNA Index System).
- Secret Clearance is required.
- Due to the nature of work performed at the client’s facility, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to document calibration results and interpret technical data.
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
