About the role

  • Accurately translate lectures, conversations, meetings, medical, legal, and other content
  • Remain HIPAA-compliant when interpreting/translating in healthcare settings
  • Abide by client policies and American Translators Association Code of Ethics
  • Render complete and accurate translations without altering, omitting, or adding content
  • Be sensitive to source and target cultures during translation
  • Perform other duties as assigned and report to Deputy Program Manager
  • Be on-call and available with notification within 48 hours for potential jobs
  • Maintain a professional remote workspace and use computer/productivity tools efficiently
  • Be physically and mentally able to sit for extended periods and work flexible schedules (including holidays and outside normal business hours)

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent in years of experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Certified Translation Professional or translation certifications
  • Certifications from a previous agency or accreditation from a translation program
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must be fluent in one or more: Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Cantonese, Chin Hakka, Dari, Farsi/Persian, French, German, Gujarati, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Nepali, Pashto, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Somali, Tagalog, Tigrinya, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek, Vietnamese, Traditional Chinese, ASL
  • Must be able to pass a background check (may require additional background checks per project/client)
  • Ability to facilitate translation with discretion and impartiality
  • Proficiency in written communication
  • Cultural awareness across regions
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat)
  • Highly motivated, able to manage multiple tasks
  • Self-starter able to work independently and in a team
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Preferred (medical): medical interpreter certificate from CCHI or NCMI
  • Preferred: 2 years legal translation experience
  • Preferred: 2 years medical translation experience
  • Preferred: American Translators Association Certification
  • Preferred: Court certified translator certificate
