About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the end-to-end patch management process for desktops, laptops, and remote desktops
- Develop, implement, and maintain patch management schedules
- Communicate patch schedules, reboots, and issue resolutions to end users
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to evaluate, test, and deploy patches, especially for critical vulnerabilities
- Perform risk and impact assessments for missing or applied patches
- Document vulnerabilities and implement remediation plans
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for patch-related user and system issues
- Escalate issues to other teams or vendors when necessary
- Use Microsoft WSUS, SCCM, and similar platforms to automate patch deployment
- Maintain standard operating procedures and system configuration documentation
- Conduct compliance audits and assessments
- Monitor cybersecurity trends, vulnerabilities, and patch technologies
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Report to the Program Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or a related field; relevant and equivalent work experience (minimum 10 years) may be considered in lieu of a degree
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience in patch management or a related IT role
- Strong understanding of patch management principles, processes, and tools such as Microsoft WSUS, SCCM, or equivalent solutions
- Proven experience implementing automated patch management solutions and ensuring deployment consistency across environments
- Expertise in developing and maintaining patch management documentation and ensuring compliance with security best practices
- Demonstrated experience in assessments, audits, and patch management compliance checks
- Secret Security Clearance required
- Must be able to pass a background check; additional checks may be required during employment
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, adapt to changing priorities, and learn quickly
- Ability to work independently and on a multifunctional team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Familiarity with the client’s IT environment highly preferred
- CISSP or CPMP certifications are a bonus
- Ability to perform duties for extended periods, use computers effectively, move within office or secure technical facilities, lift and carry IT equipment up to 25 pounds, sit for long periods, and work outside normal business hours when required
