About the role

  • Responsible for maintaining and growing business in the assigned territory
  • Travel up to 50% within the assigned territory
  • Work closely with current and potential dealers to increase sales, profits, and customer satisfaction
  • Meet with decision makers within barns and stables to advise them on optimizing nutrition goals and convert them to Cavalor products
  • Daily sales calls to existing retail accounts (feed & tack stores)
  • Prospect and visit potential clients at farms and convert horses to Cavalor
  • Identify opportunities for growing sales volume with new stores, farms and veterinarians
  • Build client relationships and maximize customer service/satisfaction
  • Make nutritional recommendations/feeding plans
  • Interact with veterinarians; make presentations for further growth development
  • Merchandising in stores to maximize exposure and turnover of products
  • Obtain orders, communicate with office
  • Reach monthly and quarterly goals for selling and growing the market
  • Attend equine events such as horse shows, clinics and trade shows - sample products
  • Educate store personnel, plan and execute in-store customer demos

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years outside sales experience
  • Understanding of equine care, nutrition principles, experience in equine or pet industry preferred
  • Proven track record of growth, ability to develop new markets and increase distribution points
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Ability to spend up to 50% overnight travel in assigned territory
  • Proficient in using computers, CRM tools, spreadsheets, outlook, etc.
  • Ideal candidate would have some experience riding, owning, training horses or working within the industry
  • Knowledge of the feed & tack stores in the region, equine events to attend, high level riders
