About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support development and implementation of agency-wide Shelter and Settlements strategies, standards, tools, and best practices
  • Help ensure cross-sectoral integration of gender, protection mainstreaming, and disaster risk reduction
  • Provide technical solutions to Country Program teams remotely and on-site for strategic planning, standards, best practices, partnerships, tools, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Contribute to technical design, preparation, submission, and approval of project concepts and proposals
  • Act as a technical writer on proposal development teams as needed
  • Advise project teams on integrating donor strategies, priorities, and technical requirements
  • Support capacity strengthening for staff and partners through learning strategies, training curricula, workshops, coaching, and mentoring
  • Collect and analyze program data and share lessons learned and best practices
  • Contribute to the Shelter and Settlements learning agenda
  • Maintain relationships with donors, peer organizations, research institutions, and other organizations
  • Participate in Shelter and Settlements forums to collect and share best practices and promote CRS’ work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management, or a field related to Shelter & Settlements
  • Minimum five to eight years of relevant work experience with progressive responsibilities
  • Minimum two years of relevant field-based experience in Shelter and Settlements
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with web conferencing applications, information and budget management systems, and knowledge-sharing networks
  • Knowledge of technical principles and concepts in Shelter & Settlements
  • General knowledge of related disciplines for a cross-sectoral approach
  • Experience in project design and proposal development
  • Experience writing proposal content
  • Knowledge of capacity-strengthening best practices
  • Experience with program monitoring, evaluation, and analysis
  • Experience networking and managing relationships with donors, peer organizations, and faith-based civil society partners
  • Understanding of partnership principles
  • Strong relationship management, strategic, analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Presentation, facilitation, training, mentoring, and coaching skills
  • English fluency required
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 50%
  • Ability to legally work where the position is performed
  • Pre-employment medical clearance for positions requiring residence or frequent travel outside a home country
