About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary inventory management advisor for assigned Caterpillar dealers
- Design and implement inventory optimization strategies balancing service levels, inventory investment, demand, and operational performance
- Lead complex inventory improvement initiatives from analysis through execution
- Analyze inventory, operational, and business performance data to identify trends and root causes
- Develop data-driven recommendations for strategic decision-making
- Conduct executive-level business reviews with dealers and internal stakeholders
- Lead corrective action plans addressing inventory performance gaps
- Provide consultation, training, and mentorship on inventory management best practices and planning tools
- Serve as a subject matter expert on inventory management processes, optimization strategies, and dealer operations
- Lead cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Translate complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations
- Drive standardization and process improvements through best practices, reporting enhancements, governance models, and training resources
- Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities and implement scalable inventory management solutions
- Resolve complex inventory, system, and operational challenges
- Build trusted relationships with dealers and internal stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in inventory management, supply chain analytics, logistics, demand planning, or a related field
- Proven success leading complex inventory, supply chain, or business improvement initiatives and delivering measurable results
- Advanced analytical skills with experience using SQL, Snowflake, SAS, Power BI, and Excel
- Ability to identify root causes, validate data, and translate insights into actionable business recommendations
- Experience influencing customers, dealers, stakeholders, and leadership through consultative, data-driven decision-making
- Strong business acumen and ability to evaluate operational, financial, and customer impacts
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and delivering results without direct authority
- Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to operational teams, dealers, senior leaders, and executives
- Experience mentoring others and serving as a subject matter expert
- Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and drive initiatives through implementation
- Ability to work onsite five days a week
- Up to 10% domestic travel
- Visa sponsorship is not available
- Successful completion of a drug screen required for employment
