Manager, Engineering – Drill Autonomy & Technology

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Managing the engineering staff and activities with an emphasis on organizational goals achievement, professional development and continuous improvement.
- Empower and enable engineers to achieve enterprise objectives while also fostering and developing them to be successful toward their individual career aspirations.
- Monitoring and continuously improving product and process performance, quality and cost-effectiveness for all engineering activities and deliverables.
- Providing leadership to create and maintain processes used to design and develop software, systems and new technologies.
- Outline the strategy/roadmap to achieve these goals and lead its execution to completion by driving alignment across teams.
- Communicate roadmaps and priorities clearly to a variety of stakeholders across the entire company, including close collaboration with engineering managers, senior leadership, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related disciple (or equivalent experience).
- Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Communicating for Impact: Knowledge of concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others in various situations.
- Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
- Collaborating Globally: Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results.
- Influencing through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.
- Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken) is preferred to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and ensure accurate interpretation of information.
- Previous experience leading software and system development teams.
- Previous experience with Product Development Lifecycle projects; understanding constraints and how to meet strategic goals through leadership and execution.
- Leadership experience of teams in the Autonomous or Robotics industry including technical domain knowledge and awareness of customer challenges in this industry.
- Knowledge of Construction/Mining industry.
