About the role
- Providing 24/7 support, along with other team members, for all enterprise BI tool environments.
- Offering technical support for the BI Tool Enterprise software applications for visualization, which includes a suite of applications such as Business Dashboards, Data Discovery, Big Data Analysis, Data Visualization, Mapping, Data Stories, Time Series, and Mobile Business Intelligence.
- Performing capacity planning and installation of new hardware and software to align with Business Unit projects.
- Working directly with BI Tool Vendors to resolve product issues between vendor-supplied software and Caterpillar-supplied structure components (hardware, software, and/or environmental).
- Following existing change management and incident/problem management processes when maintaining environments.
- Documenting and communicating issues/findings/problems to business partners and other infrastructure support/team members accordingly.
- Developing, enhancing, supporting, and validating monitoring and alerting capabilities of the BI Tool environments.
- Providing consultation to business units or partners within Caterpillar.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience with Business Intelligence platform services.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in infrastructure or application support.
- Advanced understanding of Windows Server Operating System.
- Advanced understanding of Apache/Tomcat application servers.
- Experience writing, testing, and using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Solid understanding of modern web technologies and trends (e.g., REST APIs, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript frameworks).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills, demonstrated through at least 7 years of professional experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience collaborating across technical and non-technical teams.
- Proven ability to work independently and in team environments, ideally in fast-paced or cross-functional settings.
