About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Transform engineering and product-performance data into actionable insights
  • Support New Product Introduction, Continuous Product Improvement, field investigations, condition-monitoring development, and product-support engineering
  • Analyze engineering and product-performance data
  • Work from engineering requests submitted through the team’s ticketing process
  • Clarify analytical requirements with requesting engineering teams
  • Develop, code, document, deploy, and hand off condition-monitoring content
  • Identify equipment failure signatures from telematics and engineering data
  • Apply engine and mechanical-system knowledge to evaluate data quality
  • Distinguish valid engineering data from invalid data
  • Collaborate with internal engineering partners, industry stakeholders, and global team members
  • Learn and apply team procedures and quality-check processes
  • Support small projects and lead appropriate projects with coaching
  • Develop a condition-monitoring failure model and complete it for handoff to Cat Digital for deployment
  • Communicate and collaborate with India-based team members
  • Participate in occasional early-morning or non-standard work-hour meetings
  • Travel approximately 0–10%

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Engineering-based education and/or relevant engineering experience
  • Ability to perform engineering data analysis
  • Ability to distinguish valid and invalid engineering data using mechanical-system understanding
  • Capability to work within a product-support and engineering-analysis environment
  • Interest in coding and analytics
  • Strong communication capability
  • Basic understanding of engines, mechanical systems, and rotating components
  • Knowledge of technical analysis concepts, methodologies, tools, and technologies
  • Analytical thinking and root-cause analysis skills
  • Decision-making and critical-thinking skills
  • Requirements analysis and documentation skills
  • Engineering analysis, coding, and analytical methods
  • Python experience preferred
  • SQL experience preferred
  • Engine knowledge beyond the basic understanding required for the role preferred
  • Mechanical-system knowledge preferred
  • Mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering background preferred
  • Hands-on equipment experience preferred
  • Project leadership capability preferred
  • Ability to participate in occasional early-morning or non-standard work-hour meetings
  • Ability to work onsite five days per week
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • Successful completion of a drug screen required
