About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop machine learning, deep learning, statistical, and physics-based models using time-series sensor data, machine fault codes, inspections, and analysis records
  • Identify health anomalies, predict equipment failure modes, estimate remaining useful life, and build equipment risk models
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, product services, and technology platforms
  • Develop and implement Generative AI solutions, including model training, evaluation, selection, prompt engineering, agents, assistants, and chatbots
  • Perform reliability monitoring, observability, incident response, automation development, reliability analysis, operational readiness reviews, root-cause investigations, performance optimization, and continuous improvement
  • Plan and execute global telematics device programs, including testing and analysis of cellular, satellite, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other technologies
  • Provide digital technical support for Caterpillar digital applications and products
  • Partner with experienced engineers and data scientists to build AI and analytics solutions for fleet management, equipment failure prediction, and operational optimization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in data science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related degree; selected candidates must complete their degree by their start date
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience related to this field; internships or academic projects are a plus
  • Minimum cumulative GPA requirement 3.0/4.0 (no rounding)
  • Knowledge of statistical tools, processes, and practices for business decision-making
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Analytical thinking and root-cause analysis
  • Knowledge of machine learning principles, technologies, and algorithms
  • Programming language knowledge and ability to write and modify code
  • Knowledge of data management systems and query/database access tools
  • Requirements analysis skills

  • Successful completion of a drug screen required
