About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Balance increased approvals with risk control
  • Maximize authorization rates without compromising fraud levels, chargebacks and financial exposure.
  • Reduce friction in the payment journey
  • Address root causes of declines, systemic failures and processing inconsistencies in physical and digital environments.
  • Orchestrate multiple stakeholders with differing interests
  • Lead technical and strategic alignments between issuers, acquirers, card networks and internal teams.
  • Respond quickly to crisis scenarios
  • Manage authorization incidents, performance degradations or system outages with agility, precision and governance.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Payments ecosystem: issuers, acquirers, card networks (brands), sub-acquirers and fintechs.
  • Authorization flow (on-us / off-us), card-present (CP) / card-not-present (CNP) and international environments.
  • Authorization performance metrics, TPV (total payment volume), approval rates, declines and market benchmarks.
  • Payment scheme rules, operational manuals and regulatory impacts on the authorization flow.
  • Data analysis applied to authorization performance and identification of root causes of declines.
  • Use of artificial intelligence and analytical models for:
  • - Detection of transactional behavior patterns
  • - Optimization of authorization rules
  • - Decision support in risk and fraud scenarios
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts, automation and BI tools.
  • Understanding of system integrations, authorization messaging and staging (homologation) and production environments.
