About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute and iterate on the Payroll Operations roadmap with the wider People team
  • Perform collection, calculation, and entry of payroll data
  • Address employee questions and concerns about pay and time and attendance
  • Update payroll records and prepare payroll reports
  • Develop and document repeatable and scalable payroll processes and employee-facing guidelines and procedures
  • Work with Accounting to maintain accurate job costing and general ledger records
  • Produce and analyze employee data reports
  • Manage payroll tax accounts, filings, and new account openings
  • Balance taxes from Workday to ADP, file quarterly taxes, and validate and reconcile tax rates
  • Produce and analyze company tax reports
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource records, forms, files, and policies
  • Maintain knowledge of payroll trends, best practices, and regulatory changes
  • Assist employees with People Payroll questions and provide exceptional customer service
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes and coordination

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong business acumen and ability to partner with HR colleagues, functional specialists, and internal clients
  • Functional knowledge of federal and state employment laws and compliance
  • Solid time-management, prioritization, written communication, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and act with complete integrity
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts creatively and collaboratively
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work through ambiguity
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Strong Excel skills
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience in a dynamic, fast-paced, rapidly growing environment
  • Experience using Workday and ADP Smart Compliance for payroll
  • Payroll tax and compliance experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field is listed as a nice-to-have, not required
  • Experience in a People Operations role in the technology industry is a nice-to-have
  • Experience with M&A integrations is a nice-to-have
  • Experience working in a rapidly scaling startup is a nice-to-have
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and compliance in all U.S. states is a nice-to-have
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
