About the role
- Own engineering-driven and product-driven projects from idea to done with minimal oversight
- Enhance existing applications, troubleshoot and optimize current systems
- Build scalable, secure, and reliable improvements to our platform
- Mentor junior engineers and define and drive adoption of team processes, procedures, and best practices and system architecture
- Collaborate with staff and principal engineers to design and develop features that meet SLOs and scale to support business needs
- Own the health and uptime of business-critical systems; participate in on-call rotations and conduct postmortems
- Partner with product managers, engineering teams, and infrastructure teams to define technical requirements and design scalable, maintainable systems
- Champion and implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and security practices (DevSecOps)
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of designs, system architectures, and operational procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on designing, building, and operating PHP applications and web frameworks like Symfony or Laravel
- Proven track record of successfully delivering high-quality software
- Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills
- Hands-on experience with AWS and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, including deploying, monitoring, and scaling applications in production
- Strong understanding of MySQL, caching strategies, and messaging systems
- Proven experience designing and implementing observability solutions (e.g., DataDog)
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, including implementing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Github Actions), automated testing, and integrating security throughout the development lifecycle
- Familiarity with end to end testing frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, providing prompt incident resolution and conducting postmortems to improve system reliability
