About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evaluate and treat patients of all ages, modifying plans of care as appropriate
  • Provide services in outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Perform safe patient transfers and use appropriate body mechanics
  • Design and adjust plans of care integrating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers
  • Evaluate clinical findings, impairments, diagnoses, and outcomes of care
  • Perform examinations and select reliable, valid examination methods
  • Screen patients to determine the effectiveness and need for therapy services
  • Supervise and provide feedback to support personnel
  • Complete objective testing for range of motion, strength, and daily functional tasks
  • Complete daily documentation and charging in the therapy EMR
  • Apply tape for stabilization, facilitation, or inhibition of movement
  • Perform therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, interferential, and iontophoresis
  • Communicate patient progress and treatment recommendations to referring providers
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy required
  • Ability to treat patients of all ages
  • Ability to evaluate orthopedic and neurologic impairments
  • Ability to complete range-of-motion, strength, and functional performance testing
  • Ability to complete clinical documentation and charging in a therapy EMR
  • Knowledge of therapeutic taping techniques
  • Knowledge of ultrasound, interferential, and iontophoresis modalities
  • Ability to work day shifts, 3 eight-hour shifts Monday through Friday
  • Weekend rotation every sixth weekend
  • Holiday coverage 1–2 times per year
  • Weekend on-call rotation for inpatient work
