About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform and evaluate complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological analyses
  • Perform clinical laboratory testing used in the treatment and diagnosis of disease
  • Store and label specimens and use manual and automated equipment to prepare specimens and perform analytical tests
  • Perform routine, urgent, and stat testing accurately, safely, and within established time periods
  • Perform Chemistry-area testing, including general chemistry and immunology tests, Ionized Calcium, serum and urine osmolality, specimen dilution, and reanalysis
  • Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instrumentation
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory and notify staff when supplies are below established par levels
  • Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures and evaluate test acceptability
  • Communicate test results and other information accurately, timely, effectively, and professionally
  • Recognize testing and instrument problems, troubleshoot, or seek additional assistance
  • Participate in accreditation, proficiency testing, and annual performance competencies
  • Develop educational materials, share knowledge, and educate students and new staff
  • Assist with writing, evaluating, revising, and implementing policies and procedures
  • Follow laboratory and organizational policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree required
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (ASCP) certification within 1 year
  • Medical Technologist (MT) (AMT) certification within 1 year
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (AMT) certification within 1 year
  • Medical Technologist (MT) (ASCP) certification within 1 year
  • Ability to perform testing in the Chemistry area of a clinical laboratory
  • Ability to use manual and automated laboratory equipment
  • Ability to perform general chemistry and immunology tests, Ionized Calcium, serum and urine osmolality, specimen dilution, and reanalysis
  • Ability to calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation
  • Ability to perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures
  • Ability to troubleshoot test result and instrument function problems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to work day shift Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., with rotating weekends and holidays
