About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct patient care throughout prep, intra-procedure, and recovery phases for routine GI procedures
  • Deliver moderate sedation under physician direction
  • Rotate through procedure and recovery phases for inpatient and outpatient populations
  • Collaborate with departments and unit staff to provide patient care
  • Delegate to unlicensed personnel as appropriate
  • Perform patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify plans of care
  • Prepare patients for procedures, review health history, start IVs, and provide education
  • Monitor and sedate patients during procedures
  • Care for patients in phase 1 and phase 2 recovery
  • Assist the CRNA during cases requiring anesthesia involvement
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation
  • Report or correct safety hazards and incidents
  • Define, direct, supervise, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Registered Nurse (RN) professional caregiver role
  • Responsibilities within the nursing scope of service
  • Current knowledge of procedures and theories related to the practice area
  • Completion of all departmental competency requirements
  • Ability to provide moderate sedation under physician direction
  • Ability to start IVs and monitor patients during procedures
  • Ability to assist CRNA during anesthesia-involved cases
  • Ability to work day shifts Monday–Friday with set days off
  • Weekend, holiday, and on-call participation per rotation
