About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Receive and process incoming laboratory specimens from hospitals, clinics, and branches
Verify patient identification, specimen type, labeling, shipping conditions, containers, and storage temperatures
Provide information to providers and phlebotomists regarding specimen requirements and tests
Perform specimen registration and order entry in the electronic medical record and laboratory computer systems
Process and prepare specimens, including blood, urine, stool, and body fluids
Complete event reports for specimens that do not meet requirements
Load samples onto laboratory instrumentation according to established protocols
Perform assigned testing in accordance with established protocols
Train new staff members
Work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Requirements

What you’ll need

H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Ability to process blood, urine, stool, and body fluid specimens
Knowledge of specimen labeling, types, shipping conditions, containers, and storage temperatures
Ability to perform specimen registration and order entry in electronic medical record and laboratory computer systems
Ability to load samples onto laboratory instrumentation according to established protocols
Ability to work evening shifts Monday-Friday, 2:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m.
Ability to work every 3rd weekend
Ability to work 2-3 holidays per year
Ability to work one on-call shift every 4 weeks
