About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate and participate in daily clinic preparation, including patient identification, check-in/check-out, charge posting, cash management, appointment scheduling, registration, account setup, and phone calls
  • Operate the telephone system and take and deliver messages to physicians, nurses, and others
  • Accurately, completely, and promptly report medical information obtained from patients and referring physicians
  • Distribute messages according to practice communication standards
  • Manage incoming patient care requests involving in-basket activities, referrals, work queue activity, and incoming telephone calls
  • Initiate and secure prior authorizations as needed
  • Provide information and a positive image to ensure patients’ needs are met

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree in a related field, or work experience in lieu of education
  • Proficient with insurance coverage rules, including eligibility, network coverage, and benefits
  • Successful completion of mandatory insurance training and ongoing competency refreshers
  • Competent to initiate and secure prior authorizations
  • Competent in telephone system operation and message handling
  • Ability to accurately and promptly report medical information
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
  • No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements stated
