About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain equipment and supplies and provide patient care under the direct supervision of medical and nursing staff
- Answer call lights and offer comfort measures to patients in coordination with nursing staff
- Bring code cart to designated areas and provide cardiac compressions
- Clean and send instruments for sterilization
- Obtain supplies and equipment required for procedures
- Document appropriate data in patient charts when care is provided
- Maintain department equipment in functional condition
- Order supplies and equipment from storeroom and vendors
- Perform wound irrigations, wound repair, wound dressings, and surgical preps under direct physician supervision
- Prepare patients for transportation and transport them
- Assist nursing staff with direct patient care within ED Tech scope
- Monitor and document appropriately for psychiatric patients
- Facilitate patient throughput by assisting with triage, rooming, and transfers
- Stock linen and supplies in the emergency department
- Perform EKGs and phlebotomy as ordered by the ED provider
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma/GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days through the American Heart Association (AHA)
