About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide practical nursing support under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider in a clinic setting
Perform patient assessments, including vital signs, chief complaint, and medication reconciliation
Prepare patients for provider evaluation, specimen collection, positioning, exams, and procedures
Administer medications and injections as directed
Document patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
Provide patient education on medications, treatments, and follow-up care
Assist with referral authorizations and pre-authorizations
Maintain exam, treatment, and lab areas and ensure supplies and equipment are available
Perform laboratory-related tasks, including specimen collection, preparation, and basic testing
Perform radiology-related tasks as applicable, including assisting with imaging procedures and safety documentation
Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and proper specimen handling and disposal
Support telehealth services, including tele-retinal and tele-dermatology setup as applicable
Collaborate with healthcare providers and team members to deliver safe, efficient, patient-centered care

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required, or a new graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam
Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required
Limited Radiologic Technician license required for roles performing radiology functions
Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required
Strong customer service orientation
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals
Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems
