About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently manage a robust caseload from intake through trial or resolution
- Conduct and defend depositions of experts, key witnesses, corporate representatives, and plaintiffs
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, including MSJs and demurrers, and substantive pre-trial motions
- Serve as first- or second-chair in trials, arbitrations, and administrative hearings
- Direct client management, including risk evaluation and strategy development with institutional clients and insurers
- Manage complex litigation across public entity and municipal defense, employment litigation, general and professional liability, medical malpractice and elder care, and/or appellate and business litigation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- 4–10 years of substantive civil litigation experience; defense background preferred
- Active license in good standing with the California State Bar
- Proven track record taking and defending expert depositions and handling court appearances independently
- Strong legal analysis, legal writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Demonstrated interest or background in civil litigation, insurance defense, or public entity work
- Self-motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative, trial-focused environment
