About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently manage a robust caseload from intake through trial or resolution
  • Conduct and defend depositions of experts, key witnesses, corporate representatives, and plaintiffs
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including MSJs and demurrers, and substantive pre-trial motions
  • Serve as first- or second-chair in trials, arbitrations, and administrative hearings
  • Direct client management, including risk evaluation and strategy development with institutional clients and insurers
  • Manage complex litigation across practice areas such as public entity and municipal defense, employment litigation, general and professional liability, medical malpractice and elder care, and appellate and business litigation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • 4–10 years of substantive civil litigation experience; defense background preferred
  • Active license in good standing with the California State Bar
  • Proven track record taking and defending expert depositions and handling court appearances independently
  • Strong legal analysis, legal writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Demonstrated interest or background in civil litigation, insurance defense, or public entity work
  • Self-motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative, trial-focused environment
