About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently manage a caseload of single-plaintiff employment matters , with a focus on FEHA, wrongful termination, disability, and related claims
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements
- Conduct legal research and analyze complex California employment law issues
- Prepare for and appear at court hearings, mediations, case management conferences, and trials
- Take and defend depositions
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and administrative agencies (including DFEH and EEOC)
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on litigation strategy, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations
- Stay current on developments in California employment law and litigation practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- An active member of the California State Bar in good standing
- 2 - 5 years of experience in plaintiff-side employment law (FEHA and related claims)
- Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage assignments independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
- Demonstrated ability to handle a caseload independently and meet deadlines
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
