About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a diverse caseload of complex business and real estate litigation matters from pre-litigation analysis through trial and post-trial proceedings.
- Draft, review, and argue a wide array of complex legal documents, including pleadings, demurrers, motions for summary judgment, and pre-trial motions.
- Oversee and execute comprehensive discovery strategies.
- Draft and respond to written discovery, manage document productions, and handle discovery disputes and motions to compel.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, percipient witnesses, and expert witnesses.
- Represent clients in state and federal court hearings, case management conferences, and ex parte applications.
- Prepare for and advocate effectively in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
- Prepare trial briefs, motions in limine, exhibit lists, and witness examinations.
- Maintain consistent, high-level communication with clients.
- Provide clear, strategic legal advice that aligns with the client's commercial and financial objectives.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Member of the California Bar and in good standing
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- 5 - 15 years of civil litigation experience, ideally with a focus on business and/or real estate matters
- General/Professional Liability, Medical Malpractice, Commercial, and Insurance Defense are also strongly considered.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to draft persuasive dispositive motions and complex pleadings.
- Substantial experience taking/defending depositions, arguing in court, and participating in mediations/arbitrations.
- Impeccable professional judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
