About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a caseload of personal injury matters from intake through litigation, settlement, or trial, with an emphasis on catastrophic and traumatic brain injury cases.
- Draft and argue pleadings, motions, discovery, and pre-trial filings in California state and federal courts.
- Take and defend depositions of plaintiffs, defendants, treating physicians, and expert witnesses.
- Develop case strategy, including liability and damages analysis, life-care planning, and coordination with medical, economic, and accident-reconstruction experts.
- Conduct law-and-motion practice, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, communicating with empathy and clarity throughout the case.
- Collaborate with paralegals, case managers, and senior partners to move files efficiently and maximize recovery.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- 3–6 years of personal injury litigation experience, preferably on the plaintiff side.
- Demonstrated experience with catastrophic injury and traumatic brain injury (TBI) matters is strongly preferred.
- Comfortable independently handling litigation, motion practice, depositions, expert workups, and trial preparation.
- Strong command of the California Code of Civil Procedure, Evidence Code, and discovery practice.
- Excellent legal writing, negotiation, and oral-advocacy skills.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage a demanding docket with minimal supervision.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Established relationships with medical and damages experts in the catastrophic injury space.
- Familiarity with trucking/common-carrier, spinal-cord, and wrongful-death litigation.
