About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a caseload of labor and employment matters, including PAGA, group actions, arbitration, harassment, wage and hour, and discrimination claims.
- Handle all aspects of litigation from initial filing through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations to develop effective legal strategies and remain current on developments in labor and employment law.
- Meet with clients to assess their needs, provide legal advice, maintain strong client relationships, and counsel them on compliance with federal and state employment laws.
- Represent clients in court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, depositions, and other legal proceedings while effectively advocating for their interests.
- Conduct and oversee discovery, including depositions, document production, witness interviews, and preparation and response to discovery requests.
- Engage in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution efforts to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Prepare cases for trial by organizing evidence, developing trial strategy, and collaborating with support staff and expert witnesses.
- Review employment agreements, workplace policies, and procedures to ensure legal compliance and protect client interests.
- Educate clients on legal developments and emerging issues that may impact their businesses.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and a valid California state bar membership.
- 3+ years of experience as a labor and employment litigation attorney.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws, regulations, and court procedures.
- Exceptional research, legal writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated success in handling a variety of labor and employment litigation cases.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management abilities.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload efficiently.
