About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage a caseload of labor and employment matters, including PAGA, group actions, arbitration, harassment, wage and hour, and discrimination claims.
  • Handle all aspects of litigation from initial filing through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations to develop effective legal strategies and remain current on developments in labor and employment law.
  • Meet with clients to assess their needs, provide legal advice, maintain strong client relationships, and counsel them on compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, depositions, and other legal proceedings while effectively advocating for their interests.
  • Conduct and oversee discovery, including depositions, document production, witness interviews, and preparation and response to discovery requests.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution efforts to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Prepare cases for trial by organizing evidence, developing trial strategy, and collaborating with support staff and expert witnesses.
  • Review employment agreements, workplace policies, and procedures to ensure legal compliance and protect client interests.
  • Educate clients on legal developments and emerging issues that may impact their businesses.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and a valid California state bar membership.
  • 3+ years of experience as a labor and employment litigation attorney.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws, regulations, and court procedures.
  • Exceptional research, legal writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Demonstrated success in handling a variety of labor and employment litigation cases.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload efficiently.
