About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently manage a diverse caseload of employment and business litigation matters from inception through resolution or trial.
  • Orchestrate and execute comprehensive discovery strategies, including taking and defending key depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, and 30(b)(6) representatives.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including Summary Judgment and Demurrers, in both state and federal courts.
  • Lead the defense against administrative charges before the EEOC, CRD/DFEH, and DLSE, including attending mediations and fact-finding conferences.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for sophisticated clients, providing proactive counseling on workplace policies, employee handbooks, and compliance with evolving CA labor laws.
  • Take a lead role in trial preparation, including drafting motions in limine, trial briefs, and preparing experts for testimony.
  • Provide guidance and work-product oversight to junior associates and paralegals to ensure technical excellence across the team.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4–7 years of sophisticated civil litigation experience, with a heavy emphasis or dedicated focus on California Labor & Employment Law.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active, good-standing membership with the California State Bar.
  • Proven ability to handle depositions and court appearances independently.
  • Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills are non-negotiable.
  • A "client-first" mentality with the ability to navigate complex legal nuances with confidence and poise.
  • Comfort with a 1,900 billable hour expectation, supported by a highly efficient administrative and paralegal team.
