About the role
- Provide outpatient psychotherapy either at The Center or in the community.
- Perform initial screening, intake and assessment, orientation, crisis intervention, counseling, screening, case management, client education, referral, treatment planning, and consultation for clients in the program.
- Perform a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of assigned consumers.
- Treat consumers with respect.
- Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
- Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV).
- Perform and record mental status examination.
- Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others.
- Collect pertinent data from appropriate collateral sources in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.
- Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues.
- Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate.
- Use knowledge to decide appropriate levels of care in order to refer to various points in the continuum of care.
- Provide individual, group, and family mental health and/or substance abuse therapy.
- Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the consumers' network of care.
- Maintain knowledge and familiarity of mental health and/or substance abuse and other related community agencies.
- Communicate with various local agencies and individuals, as well as with Center staff.
- Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other Center requirements.
- Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, consumers, community agencies and the public.
- Communicate with various local agencies and other departments or teams at The Center.
- Work in cooperation with co-workers and supervisory staff.
- Serve on appropriate Center committees.
- Provide mental health consultation to other community agencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Masters degree in Human Services, Psychology, or Social Work or related field and clinical experience.
- LICSW and/or LCDP and/or LMHC preferred.
- LICSW strongly preferred.
- Must have valid driver's license, registration, current inspection and insured automobile.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
