About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Greet each customer as they enter and acknowledge them as they leave
Maximize time on the main floor while using the cash wrap for transactions, phone calls, lending library requests, and request list inquiries
Guide customers through product selection by matching game characteristics to customer interests
Learn and play new games to showcase products in the store and restaurant
Maintain knowledge of best sellers and game rules to answer customer questions
Inform and encourage customers to attend relevant events
Develop relationships with customers and gaming communities
Maintain additions to the Customer Request log
Complete POS transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and end-of-day reconciliation
Complete transactions on the admin website, including online order pickups and sell order drop-offs
Merchandise and dust product displays daily
Maintain store aesthetics by eliminating clutter and cleaning customer-facing areas
Follow opening and closing procedures, including alarm usage and coordination with Restaurant and Facilities
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or GED
Minimum 1 year of prior experience in a retail or customer service role
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
Ability to work within hours of operation
Ability to quickly learn and retain various game genres, mechanics, and hundreds of game titles
Ability to identify gaming trends and stay current with new games and gaming trends
Genuine interest in gaming and creative play
Ability to teach games to diverse audiences and groups
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work well with a group
Ability to convert stressful situations into positive experiences
Professional and positive manner with customers and staff
Proficiency in cash handling methods, end-of-day reconciliation, POS, and the online admin website
Experience with credit transactions that protect customer information
Ability to use common security systems and follow escalation protocols
Deep knowledge of board games, miniature gaming, role-playing games, and/or Magic: The Gathering (preferred)
