About the role

  • Lead the Legal, Compliance, Risk Management and Internal Controls functions;
  • Manage team climate and development through 1:1s, feedback and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for direct reports;
  • Ensure compliance with regulations of the Central Bank of Brazil and other applicable regulators;
  • Develop, implement and review internal policies (AML/CFT, Integrity, Anti‑Corruption, Risk Management, Internal Controls and Customer Relations, among others);
  • Act as the owner of regulatory governance, including liaison with regulators and leading audits;
  • Conduct regulatory, operational and compliance risk assessments, defining and monitoring mitigation plans;
  • Support the legal and regulatory structuring of new products and business models (e.g., merchant acquiring, payment accounts and Banking-as-a-Service - BaaS);
  • Draft, review and negotiate strategic contracts (partnerships, technology and operational arrangements);
  • Monitor and implement regulatory changes, assessing impacts and proposing business adjustments;
  • Oversee the effectiveness of internal controls and support internal and external audits;
  • Manage and oversee legal matters in tax, labor, corporate and litigation areas, including strategy definition and coordination with external law firms;

Requirements

  • Law degree (LL.B., JD or equivalent);
  • Experience with Central Bank of Brazil regulation, especially relating to authorized payment institutions;
  • Experience with audits and engagement with regulators;
  • In-house legal background with experience managing legal matters such as contracts, corporate, tax, labor and litigation;
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating strategic contracts;
  • Business acumen and strategic thinking;
  • Clear, concise communication (no legalese);
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks;
  • Proactive mindset;
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented approach;
