About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the business unit’s resident expert on regulatory matters surrounding commercial credit topics
- Monitor regulatory expectations and inform the business unit of anticipated regulatory actions or shifts in expectations
- Create strategies with Commercial Risk, Credit Review, and Regulatory Relations teams to address key changes
- Advise on regulatory reporting changes and drive conformance to related requirements
- Ensure Commercial Underwriting and Portfolio Management processes and governance routines conform to regulatory and enterprise expectations
- Ensure regulatory documentation requirements are met and support positive Credit Review and regulatory exam results
- Establish a framework for evaluating transactions from Credit Review and regulatory perspectives
- Act as in-business counsel and go-to resource for UW&PM teams at the transaction level
- Lead the UW&PM organization’s regulatory agenda, including recurring routines and targeted regulatory reviews
- Respond to and remediate escalated findings with Commercial Risk, Regulatory Relations, Credit Review, and Audit teams
- Liaise between UW&PM and the broader Commercial Fraud organization
- Manage multiple complex initiatives using project management and planning skills
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or military experience
- At least 8 years of experience within a regulatory body such as the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Federal Reserve Bank, or a regulatory advisory role at a commercial bank
- Strong regulatory expertise and extensive experience advising management on commercial credit matters
- Experience with commercial credit topics including risk ratings, evaluation and adjudication of credits, shared national credits, and leveraged lending
- Preferred: at least 10 years of experience in a regulatory role within the commercial banking industry
- Preferred: experience across lending products including cash flow lending, real estate lending, or structured products
- Preferred: strong written and oral communication skills
- Must not require new employment authorization sponsorship from Capital One
