About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage accounting, reporting, and analytical activities related to Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) results
  • Manage ACL disclosure processes for accurate internal management and external SEC and regulatory reporting
  • Oversee ACL backtesting activities supporting quarterly ACL governance with senior leadership
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on ACL and related metrics
  • Communicate quarterly ACL results to stakeholders
  • Set the reporting team agenda and lead strategic projects and special topics
  • Manage the team to elevate associate performance and build a high-performing environment
  • Build relationships with risk management, finance, and other business partners
  • Create ACL analytics and present analysis to executive leadership
  • Review quarterly journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
  • Use technologies to enhance reporting and analytics
  • Support ACL compliance activities for management, internal audit, and external audit groups
  • Create organizational connections, share expertise, formulate recommendations, and prioritize Controllers initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, external financial reporting, audit, or finance, or a combination
  • CPA license preferred
  • 2 years of experience in banking, financial services, or a combination preferred
  • 1 year of people management experience preferred
  • Strong track record of building relationships within accounting groups and other areas of an organization
  • Experience with accounting systems such as PeopleSoft, SAP, or Oracle Financials
  • Experience with reporting systems such as OneStream, Tableau, or Google Data Studio
  • Ability to reach well-reasoned conclusions on financial reporting and disclosure issues
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate work across a team and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
