About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define scope, timelines, and priorities for ongoing role assessments with internal stakeholders and legal counsel
  • Oversee fact-finding for role assessments by examining job descriptions, organizational charts, and job family structures and interviewing managers
  • Map role expectations and duties against FLSA exemption criteria and document classification results centrally
  • Lead complex classification projects and analysis to keep compliance methodologies responsive to technological and workplace changes
  • Analyze classification methodology effectiveness, pivot strategies, provide compliance recommendations, and engage Legal, HR, and business stakeholders
  • Document project artifacts and communications appropriately
  • Partner with in-house and outside legal counsel on role classification determinations and communicate classifications clearly
  • Lead a cross-functional governance steering committee involving Compensation, Legal, HR Risk, Payroll, and Associate Relations
  • Lead monthly business reviews covering job classification progress, time-tracking trends, and local/international legislation changes
  • Implement enhanced FLSA standards training for HRBPs, Compensation professionals, and line managers
  • Use problem-solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver intended outcomes
  • Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver commitments
  • Communicate regularly with HR stakeholders at all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 6 years of experience in Compensation, Human Resources, Wage & Hour Law, or Compliance
  • Preferred: Master’s in Business Administration or Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Preferred: 8+ years of experience in Compensation, Human Resources, or global Wage & Hour Law/Compliance
  • Experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or combination
  • Deep strategic understanding of FLSA exemption criteria, overtime rules, and state-specific wage-and-hour standards, including state-specific exemption rules
  • Exceptional executive presence and experience collaborating with legal counsel and presenting to senior leadership
  • Intellectually curious, comfortable with ambiguity, and passionate about learning and new technologies
  • Influential communication skills and ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders and partners
  • Decisive, action-oriented approach with willingness to make commitments and trade-offs
  • Collaborative approach to working with diverse people and driving toward common goals
