About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support Discover Card Customer Management activities and horizontal FP&A processes for the total Discover Card portfolio
  • Partner with business customers to drive strategic business direction and sustainable performance
  • Perform financial data analysis and prepare Profit & Loss and other statements
  • Build reports for higher-level associates
  • Provide management and business clients with project statuses
  • Perform reporting and analysis for presentations and ad-hoc requests
  • Generate analytical insights into business performance, the P&L, and the consumer
  • Develop and deliver senior management presentations
  • Partner with business leadership to assess the financial implications of organizational growth efforts
  • Manage financial reporting and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, and P&L management
  • Present analysis to business stakeholders and communicate outcomes clearly to leadership teams
  • Handle ad-hoc requests and special projects
  • Challenge existing processes and create proactive, effective, efficient, and sustainable processes
  • Independently manage and prioritize workload

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative major such as Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • Preferred: Certified Treasury Professional, CFA, CPA, or CFM credential
  • Preferred: 6+ years of experience in financial analysis and financial modeling
  • Preferred: 4+ years of experience in financial services, banking, or technology industries
  • Preferred: 4+ years of experience partnering with senior leaders and internal stakeholders
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills or Google Suite
  • Strong SQL and Python skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment amid rapid change and growth
  • Strategic thought partnership and advisory capability with senior business leaders
  • Ability to generate analytical insights into business performance, P&L, and consumer trends
  • Ability to develop and deliver senior management presentations
  • Ability to assess financial implications of organizational growth initiatives
  • Ability to balance analytics and judgment, influence corporate decision-making, and think beyond department objectives
  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize workload
