About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide essential legal advice and support on a variety of commercial initiatives and transactions for the Discover Global Payment Network
Serve as a key strategic partner and important voice within the business, helping drive growth across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada (LACC)
Providing expert counsel and strategic guidance across commercial relationships, including commercial contracting and risk identification and mitigation
Negotiating, drafting, and guiding implementation of commercial agreements
Supporting credit, fintech and payment innovation related new product initiatives
Partnering collaboratively with other internal counsel and business teams
Partnering with Risk and Compliance teams to ensure comprehensive support

Requirements

What you’ll need

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
At least 6 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel
Bilingual in English and Spanish (Preferred)
7+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel (Preferred)
