About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic direction and oversight for the underwriting and portfolio management team
- Lead internal approvals primarily for equity transactions and any related debt, ensuring structural integrity and alignment with Capital One’s risk appetite
- Oversee risk assessment and lifecycle management of equity investments
- Proactively manage emerging lower-tier and upper-tier portfolio risks
- Drive innovation and continuous process improvements
- Lead, mentor, and advocate for a high-performing team of underwriters and portfolio managers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or military experience
- At least 10 years of experience in underwriting, asset management, portfolio management or any combination of the three in the field of affordable housing or commercial real estate
- Master’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, or a related field (preferred)
- Extensive experience in construction lending, LIHTC equity underwriting, equity asset management, or fund management (preferred)
- 5+ years of people leadership experience (preferred)
