About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform a wide variety of payroll activities including updating transactions into the payroll processing system
  • Calculate, finalize, and reconcile payroll
  • Correct errors arising during payroll processing
  • Conduct audits and prepare reports
  • Work closely with Capital One associates to answer payroll questions and resolve any issues
  • Perform daily payroll tasks including new hire information entry, processing of overpayments, terminations, retroactive payments, payroll adjustments, reconciliations, and stop payments
  • Format files for interface into the Payroll System
  • Perform reconciliations of payroll, benefit and deduction transactions
  • Review payroll system output for errors and make necessary corrections
  • Assist other HR Partners to resolve errors and maintain/update accurate information in the payroll system
  • Handle inquiries related to payroll and provide information/guidance to associates regarding their pay
  • Perform regular and ad-hoc audits of payroll data to maintain compliance with established standards
  • Assist in year-end reporting and preparation
  • Regular attendance is required; overtime may be needed as business needs dictate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 2 years of Payroll experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant military experience (preferred)
  • Professional certification such as FPC or CPP (preferred)
  • Experience with Workday HR System (preferred)
  • Experience with case management systems (preferred)
  • Experience with ADP Global View (preferred)
  • Understanding of the gross to net calculation inclusive of pre/post tax deductions and taxable benefits
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll and payroll tax laws and regulations
  • Multi-Province payroll experience (preferred)
  • Familiarity with pay and benefit programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
