About the role

  • Leverage strong communication skills, incentive risk and compensation expertise, and risk mitigation experience to support Capital One’s incentive governance processes.
  • Ensure incentive compensation programs appropriately balance performance and risk by providing independent oversight, monitoring, and effective challenge.
  • Conduct risk assessments and backtesting incentive plans.
  • Identify the Covered Associate population.
  • Design and monitor risk performance goals (including backtesting).
  • Deliver reporting and insights on incentive risk matters to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Manage the oversight of incentive-related risks across all of Capital One’s incentive compensation programs.
  • Support compliance with the Interagency Guidance on Sound Incentive Compensation Policies.
  • Identify and assess potential risks embedded within the design and structure of incentive plans.
  • Partner closely with the first line of defense and Human Resources to ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies and controls are implemented.
  • Provide independent review and effective challenge throughout the incentive plan lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with first and second lines of defense to support accurate identification of Covered Associates and the implementation of risk performance goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 5 years of experience in incentive risk management within the financial services industry
  • At least 5 years of experience in incentive compensation or executive compensation design, governance, and risk assessment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or Military Experience (preferred)
  • Experience with regulatory guidance related to incentive compensation (i.e., Interagency Guidance on Sound Incentive Compensation Policies), including international compensation guidelines (preferred)
  • Experience partnering with senior executives and influencing decision-making (preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across teams, problem solving, and streamlining complex processes, with strong attention to detail (preferred).
