About the role
- Leverage strong communication skills, incentive risk and compensation expertise, and risk mitigation experience to support Capital One’s incentive governance processes.
- Ensure incentive compensation programs appropriately balance performance and risk by providing independent oversight, monitoring, and effective challenge.
- Conduct risk assessments and backtesting incentive plans.
- Identify the Covered Associate population.
- Design and monitor risk performance goals (including backtesting).
- Deliver reporting and insights on incentive risk matters to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
- Manage the oversight of incentive-related risks across all of Capital One’s incentive compensation programs.
- Support compliance with the Interagency Guidance on Sound Incentive Compensation Policies.
- Identify and assess potential risks embedded within the design and structure of incentive plans.
- Partner closely with the first line of defense and Human Resources to ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies and controls are implemented.
- Provide independent review and effective challenge throughout the incentive plan lifecycle.
- Collaborate with first and second lines of defense to support accurate identification of Covered Associates and the implementation of risk performance goals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
- At least 5 years of experience in incentive risk management within the financial services industry
- At least 5 years of experience in incentive compensation or executive compensation design, governance, and risk assessment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or Military Experience (preferred)
- Experience with regulatory guidance related to incentive compensation (i.e., Interagency Guidance on Sound Incentive Compensation Policies), including international compensation guidelines (preferred)
- Experience partnering with senior executives and influencing decision-making (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience collaborating across teams, problem solving, and streamlining complex processes, with strong attention to detail (preferred).
