About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Partner with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products
Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components, including foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability
Make build-versus-buy decisions across open-source and SaaS AI technologies
Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput of large-scale production AI systems
Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems
Attract and retain AI talent and nurture team members' personal and professional development
Mentor and coach team members and foster a culture of learning and staying current with AI developments

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI plus at least 8 years of experience developing or leading AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or Master's degree plus at least 6 years of such experience
At least 3 years of people leadership experience
Preferred: 5 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team
Preferred: 7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud
Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field
Passion for staying up to date with the latest AI research and AI systems and applying novel techniques in production
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts to peers
Strong foundation in engineering and mathematics
Expertise in hardware, software, and AI
