About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Establishes communications systems by programming voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.
  • Plans network installations by studying technical specifications and preparing an installation schematic.
  • Inventories and prioritizes network and equipment repairs.
  • Establishes voice and data networks by programming features, establishing interfaces and integrations, following industry standards, and activating remote access tools.
  • Verifies service by testing and re-programming circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying and correcting problems; and conferring with engineers.
  • Documents network by recording configuration diagrams and programming.
  • Analyzes network performance and prepares and presents reports based on that analysis.
  • Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages, testing network back-up procedures, and updating documentation.
  • Maintains customer rapport by listening and answering questions and resolving concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintains safe work environment by following standards and policies.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Interprets policy originating from higher organizational levels, developing local policy and implementing instructions, providing authoritative interpretations and guidance to management officials and other telecommunications specialists, and resolving issues involving conflicting telecommunications requirements.
  • Resolves a variety of conventional telecommunications problems, questions, or situations, such as those where the employee is responsible for monitoring established communications systems and programs.
  • Performs independent reviews and recommending actions involving well-established criteria, methods, techniques, and procedures.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a required field of study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: computer science, telecommunications, information technology, or similar field.
  • All Candidates must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Capacity to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • The ability to work well on a team.
  • US Citizenship
  • Able to obtain a public trust security clearance.
