About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee all aspects of CSC Massachusetts and ensure high-quality, impactful support for people affected by cancer
  • Lead staff and volunteers and manage the business of CSC Massachusetts
  • Create and lead fundraising and development efforts
  • Serve as the key liaison with community and healthcare partners
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow philanthropic support from individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations
  • Design and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with CSC’s national strategies, policies, and standards
  • Build, cultivate, solicit, and steward diversified donor and partner portfolios
  • Develop and execute donor stewardship and moves management strategies
  • Partner with the Advisory Board, volunteers, and community leaders to expand fundraising capacity and identify funding opportunities
  • Lead signature fundraising events
  • Develop grant proposals, sponsorship opportunities, and donor communications
  • Represent CSC Massachusetts at community events, networking opportunities, and philanthropic engagements
  • Collaborate with CSC Headquarters on fundraising resources, campaigns, marketing support, and best practices
  • Serve as chief ambassador and spokesperson through media relations, public speaking, community partnerships, marketing, and social media
  • Partner with the Program Director to strengthen program delivery and community outreach
  • Recruit, develop, and support a diverse, high-performing Board of Directors
  • Maintain relationships with board members, volunteers, healthcare partners, community organizations, donors, and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with national standards, policies, brand guidelines, laws, regulations, and operational expectations
  • Implement organizational strategies and priorities with CSC Headquarters
  • Provide financial leadership, manage the annual operating budget, monitor performance, and present financial reports and forecasts
  • Lead day-to-day operations and administrative functions
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and lead a high-performing team
  • Build staffing structures to support growth
  • Partner with the Program Director to ensure effective program and service delivery
  • Engage and support volunteers in program delivery, fundraising, and community engagement
  • Collaborate with CSC Headquarters, Network Partner Executive Directors, and national teams
  • Monitor operational, financial, fundraising, and program metrics to drive continuous improvement
  • Perform other duties as requested by management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Highly effective management, fundraising, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • History of effective collaboration with internal teams and external institutions
  • Experience engaging funders, community partners, and professional membership organizations
  • Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
  • Ability to lead staff and volunteers
  • Ability to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies
  • Ability to cultivate and steward individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, community organizations, and civic leaders
  • Ability to secure annual, major, planned, and transformational gifts
